How far along we are in the reconstructioncloseopen
We have started the I. phase of the reconstruction – currently, preparatory work is being done in the house.
During the first stage we will build underground parking and reconstruct the first two floors.
Final approval of the premises is planned for the first quarter of 2014. At that time, the floors offering business space will be finished and ready to welcome first new tenants.
History of the housecloseopen
Today’s corner area of the Chlumecký Palace, which was built in the 50s in the 19th century on the site of the original four medieval town houses, has a long and rich history. Since 14th century, among the owners and tenants of those four houses there could also be found wealthy owners of brickworks or malt house but among the residents there were also tailors, bakers, butchers, soap boilers and shoemakers, and even some noble families. In 1852, Chamber of Commerce moved into new premises. At the end of the 19th century, all editors and publishers of Lidové noviny moved in here from Běhounská Street.
Since 1910, Czech patriots had their rendezvous in the famous Brichta Café on the ground floor of the building.
